San Antonio de Oquitoa

Oquitoa, Sonora

Franciscan missionaries established a visita at this site in 1768, and this church was apparently built in the late 1700s. It is constructed of burned brick and adobe, and is located on a hilltop above the town. By the early 1900s, the plaster had deteriorated and the structure was in very poor condition. The Mexican government restored the church in 1980.
